compassionate care
better for patients, better for staff
How do your staff feel about the care they give? How does being ‘caring’ as part of their job affect them and their lives? How difficult is that daily demand? What joys does it bring?
cultivating excellence
This is a unique programme designed to support the highest level of patient care. It brings together contemporary solution-focused approaches with ancient practices for cultivating compassion. The programme is applicable to all staff, but geared mainly to patient-facing groups.
It is designed to minimise disruption to day-to-day routine. It takes the form of a half-day workshop followed by three half-hour individual coaching sessions with each of the participants.
The workshop includes directed reflection, discussion in pairs and small groups, dynamic constellation work and guided meditative exercises to cultivate compassion. It supports participants to:
- Reconnect with their initial inspiration for working in healthcare
- Develop a vision for exceptional healthcare
- Clarify inappropriate (Red Zone) behaviours
- Explore the Care Continuum
- Recognise compassion as an intention and as a choice
- Identify their nursing strengths
- Undertake mindfulness exercises to connect with self, colleagues and patients
- Devise their own development plans
The coaching sessions - provided one week, three weeks and six weeks after the workshop - will support staff to implement, review, and refine their development plans, focusing on success and learning and cultivating an ongoing ethos of continual development.
staff and patient stories
The most powerful medium for creating stories of this sort is film. The moving image can create a lasting impression on individuals and help to shift their frame of reference and their self image.Working with our partners Greenlions. We have commissioned short films to raise awareness of the work that we do.
We focus on stories about compassionate care, its character, and effects on both patients and staff, told from the point of view of both patients staff.
Ideally, we make these films using your staff by providing technical training and coaching to make this film for themselves.
